Chronic Venous Insufficiency
Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) is a progressive condition that occurs when the venous wall and/or the valves in the leg veins do not work effectively.
This makes it difficult for blood to return to the heart from the legs, causing blood to "pool" in the veins. This pooling results in high venous pressure, leading to swelling, skin changes, and, in advanced cases, painful venous leg ulcers.
Why This Matters
For millions, Lymphedema and CVI are debilitating conditions that can only be managed, not cured.
Patients have long been forced to choose between tight compression garments with limited efficacy, or pneumatic pumps that tether them to a machine.
